Arles

Home of Vincent Van Gogh and many of his most famous paintings.  Beautifully preserved Roman artifacts including an arena and an opera house.  There is a guided walk through the town showing the scenes Van Gogh painted, including Starry Night, the Cafe de la Nuit, the Windmill and others.  Posters of his paintings are placed at the spots to show you how they looked when he painted them (see the example below in the Cloister Garden).
