Equestrian Centers are plentiful in the Vaucluse, and coupled with the magnificent scenery, a day on horseback makes for a delightful experience and a very intimate way to see the countryside.

An hour's ride south finds you in the Camargue, a flat semi aquatic region that boasts French Cowboys (Guardiens) and a breed of smallish white horses used in the Equestrian centers.

However, you don't have to go that far to find horseback riding.  Just inside Sarrians on the west side is the Bastide du Grand Chêne, a restored 17th century hotel which offers horseback riding.  Just go up the D52 out of town until you see the signs for the Bastide in the direction of "les Gens d'Orange".
